Pratt Green Week: Transportation Tuesday

Location: outside the East Building (good weather) or inside the Student Union (bad weather)

Better Bicycling Demonstration: Chris Jensen, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Science, will be on hand to provide instructive demonstrations on bike repair and maintenance as well as techniques for urban riding.

Help me! (11:00 am to 12:30 pm & 2:00 to 3:00 pm)
Need help fixing something on your bike? Bring it by and we will show you how to fix it (or give you advice on what needs fixing and what you need to make that fix happen).

Bike repair for the road (12:30 to 1:00 pm)
This demonstration will outline the basic tools you should bring with you on every ride and how to use them to get out of a mechanical jam.


How to be an urban cyclist (1:30 to 2:00 pm)
This demonstration outlines strategies and techniques for surviving the streets of New York City on your bike. Topics covered will include preventing theft, choosing safe routes, building good riding habits, choosing the right bike for your needs, dealing with aggressive drivers, and dressing for the weather.

Free DOT Helmet Giveaway (11:00 am to 3:00 pm): Envirolution hosts New York City’s Department of Transportation, which will once again have volunteers on hand to distribute free bicycle helmets to the first two hundred visitors. Protect your head for free!
